1966 SMS Kennedy 40% Silver Half Dollar, NGC MS68 Cameo

1966 was the second year of an attempted break away from proof coins. The SMS coins were struck to replace proofs and all coins were produced without mint marks in an effort to reduce collectors' interest.

This coin has a brilliant, white surface on the obverse and the reverse sides. The fields are highly mirrored and the contrast with the cameo devises provides superb eye appeal. At this time, NGC has graded just 207 SMS coins from this year and denomination at this level. There are only 11 cameo coins graded higher. This coin is registry quality.
